As part of this appointment, Minister Wilkinson is mandated to implement the Government’s historic Oceans Protection Plan, and find new ways for our oceans and waterways to thrive.
- Minister Leblanc moves to Intergovernmental Affairs, Northern Affairs and Internal Trade. He will also act as President of the Privy Council and will co-lead the Atlantic Growth Strategy.
- Minister Amerjeet Sohi moves from Infrastructure to Natural Resources while Minister Jim Carr moves from Natural Resources to International Trade.
- Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne moves from International Trade to Infrastructure and Communities.
With this new Cabinet, the government stated its intent to put a greater focus on “diversifying international trade, supporting and growing small business, expanding tourism, promoting our exports, and improving trade within our borders. Creating more jobs, opportunities, and prosperity for Canadians is the Government’s top priority.”
