February 25, 2022 | Circular No. 11405
Dear Member,
The Halifax Port Authority has advised that it plans to implement a revised tariff schedule as of April 1, 2022 (please click HERE for notice). Key elements of the new tariff include the following:
- A general rate increase of 2 percent overall (includes harbour dues, berthage fees and anchorage fees, but excludes passenger fees);
- A general rate increase of 2 percent on import wharfage fees, as well as a charge of $1.00 per TEU / FEU to help fund the construction of a new marine container examination facility;
- Introduction of a new environmental incentive program for container and ro-ro vessels (which will likely be extended to other vessels types at a later stage). Under the program, ships with an Environmental Ship Index (ESI) score between 20.00 and 49.99 will receive a $500 rebate on harbour dues, while ships with an ESI-assigned score of 50.00 or higher will receive a $1,000 rebate.
The full text of the revised tariff can be found HERE.
We are seeking members’ input on the proposed tariff changes, which we will incorporate into an official response to the port should this be deemed necessary. Please send any comments to the undersigned.
Sincerely,
Karen Kancens
Vice President
