Dear Member,
As outlined in our Circular Letter 11543, CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) has extended the implementation date of their Directive D-98-08 to November 6th, 2023.
The implementation of this directive (D-98-08) entails reporting and discharging of dunnage in only “designated terminals” among other requirements. With the date of November 6th being two weeks away and with only one designated terminal currently listed on the Directive’s website, we have requested CFIA to provide us with an update of the Directive’s implementation requirements and to answer any questions from members.
We are pleased to inform you that CFIA has scheduled a virtual information session on Monday, October 30th at 13h00 (EST). The session will primarily focus on the following key points:
- Status update on the on-boarding process of designated terminals.
- Procedures to be followed starting November 6th
- Progress report on the forthcoming flow-chart (guidance document) to be provided by CFIA

Please contact the undersigned if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Farah Ahmad
Coordinator, Marine Operations
