February 17, 2022 | Circular No. 11397

Dear Member,

As a follow up to CL 11195 regarding changes to the CFIA dunnage policy, CFIA have updated the Directive D-98-08 Entry requirements for wood packaging material into Canada to include the new shipborne dunnage program, as well as to reflect recent amendments made to the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) 15 Regulation of wood packaging material in international trade.  The CFIA announced in April 2021 that a new shipborne dunnage program would be implemented, as detailed in the risk management document RMD 20-02.

The Federation has arranged for the CFIA to present the D-98-08 proposed changes to members on Friday February 25th at 1000hrs PST / 1300hrs EST / 1400hrs AST.  Details are here for the MS Teams meeting.

The Federation will be engaging members following this presentation by CFIA to collect comments/concerns to consolidate into a submission to CFIA prior to their April 1st deadline.

Please direct any questions to the undersigned

Regards,

Chad Allen
