Dear Member,
The Port of Québec has announced a new incentive program for “green vessels,” EcoCargo. The program grants up to a 30% discount on port fees, based on certification via Green Marine or RightShip programs.
From the Québec Port Authority:
“The QPA is pleased to introduce the EcoCargo program to encourage shipowners whose environmental practices contribute to reducing the ecological footprint of marine transportation on the St. Lawrence River… With this initiative, which is part of our sustainable development action plan, the QPA is positioning itself as a leader in supporting the effort required to decarbonize our economy and our logistics chains. Over the next few years, the QPA, in collaboration with its partners, intends to step up this type of measure to counter climate change and make the Port of Québec a model to emulate in this matter.”
More information on the program, including the instructions for obtaining the credit, is available on the Port of Quebec EcoCargo website.
Information on financial incentives for “green vessels” at other Canadian ports including the Port of Montreal, Port of Sept Iles, Port of Prince Rupert and Port of Vancouver, can be found in CL 11275.
