Dear Member,
As a follow up to our CL 11370 related to Pilotage Charges, the PPA have concluded their service agreement process with the BC Coast Pilots and will be presenting a service charge proposal for 2022 shortly.
The PPA have been negotiating with the BCCP for the last several month and went through the mediation and Final Offer Selection process. The Arbitrator sided with the BC Coast Pilots in a decision rendered January 30th, which provides for a 4 year service agreement (Effective January 1, 2022) with cost increases as follows:
Year | Hourly | Unit |
2022 | CPI plus 1% | CPI plus 1% |
2023 | CPI plus 1% | CPI plus 1% |
2024 | CPI plus 1% | CPI plus 1% |
2025 | CPI | CPI |
The Federation led the development of the new National Pilotage Committee, which focuses of delivering an efficient and cost-effective pilotage service across Canada. It is through this committee, that we anticipate real initiatives to change the pilotage system.
Please direct any questions to the undersigned
Regards,
Director, Marine Operations
