Dear Member,
The Quebec government has announced that it is implementing a province-wide curfew as of today (December 31, 2021), under which individuals are prohibited from leaving their place of residence between the hours of 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM.
Members should note that the curfew will NOT apply to a range of individuals, including employees who are outside their home because they are at their place of work, or because they are traveling to or from their place of employment (please see this LINK for a complete list of curfew exceptions).
Individuals who must leave their homes for work-related reasons during the hours of the curfew MUST carry a completed copy of this ATTESTATION (provided by the government) confirming their reason for being outside their residence. We strongly recommend that all members who have to travel anywhere in Quebec for their business (including agents who need to attend a vessel in person) ensure they have a copy of this attestation with them at any time they must be outside their homes for work-related purposes during the 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM curfew hours.
Members should also note that despite the above exemptions, companies are urged to work remotely as much as possible and to identify the absolute minimum number of individuals who must physically be at their place of work in order to ensure the continuity of operations. It is also important to ensure that such individuals meticulously follow the Public Health Agency of Canada’s hygiene guidelines.
Best regards,
Karen Kancens
Vice President
