Tidewater Container Services, which operates the Tsawwassen container examination facility in B.C., has provided an updated tariff and fee schedule for effect March 1, 2023.
The revised tariff was presented at a stakeholder meeting held last week, at which time Tidewater noted that the tariff increases are due to rising operating and labour costs, as well as the operational impacts of CBSA’s ongoing delays in procuring and installing a fixed, large-scale imaging device for the centre.
Although Tidewater was open to answering stakeholder questions during the meeting, they indicated that they cannot continue to provide service without increasing their rates at the level proposed. Tidewater also highlighted the fact that this is the first time they have increased rates since the facility opened in 2019.
We are interested in hearing members’ views on the increased tariff and on whether further representations to Tidewater from our end may be warranted.
