Dear Member,
As per the attached press release, the three-year agreement that the SLSMC and UNIFOR reached last Sunday was ratified by the union membership yesterday evening, bringing an official end to the strike that shut down the Seaway operations for an eight-day period.
The Seaway has indicated that as the end of the navigation season approaches, it will continue to take measures to maximize the movement of vessels carrying essential cargo along the waterway. An announcement on the Seaway’s planned closure date is expected to be made on November 10th.
We will provide members with additional information on the above as it becomes available.
