On September 14, 2021, the United States Coast Guard issued their proposed rates for pilotage service on the U.S. Great Lakes for the 2022 season (see our CL 11316 September 15/21). Today, the Coast Guard released their Final Rule, establishing pilotage rates in U.S. Great Lakes waters for the 2022 season, effective April 29th, 2022. The 2022 tariff has increased total pilotage operating costs by approximately 7% over 2021 rates. A breakdown of the increases are as follows:
