The Canadian Coast Guard has issued NAVWARN NW-M-0054-26 advising that Ice Control Zone Victor 1 is now active as of January 15, 2026 at 18:00 UTC. This includes the Northumberland Strait (see the NAVWARN for exact area coordinates).
All laden oil tankers and ships carrying chemicals in bulk should comply with Transport Canada’s TP 15163 of the Joint Industry Government Guidelines.
