Dear Members,
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) has issued the attached Notice to Industry advising that continued high demand for anchorages at the Port of Vancouver and throughout the Southern Gulf Islands may limit its ability to accommodate all arriving vessels simultaneously.
As such, VFPA is implementing the measures outlined in the attached notice to optimize available anchorage capacity, including prioritizing assignments based on vessel schedules and operational requirements, encouraging participation in its voluntary near-time arrival process, and directing vessels to alternative holding or anchorage locations where appropriate. Members are also encouraged to review VFPA’s daily Anchorage Utilization Report on their Port Insights webpage (under “Supply chain reports and schedules”) and to coordinate vessel arrivals closely with terminals and the port authority.
We encourage members to refer to the attached notice for full details on the applicable measures and anchorage priorities.
Best regards,
Nathan Phillips
Acting Manager, Marine Affairs
