Dear Member,
With reference to Navwarn NW-C-0710-26, please be advised that Transport Canada (TC) has lifted the seawater cooling requirement effective 15h00 on March 31. This restriction has been in place since December 9, 2025.
For reference, the seawater cooling recirculation requirement is activated and remains in effect until the water temperature in Québec City consistently reaches 0.5 °C. Advance notice is not typically provided. The restriction is generally lifted toward the end of March or the beginning of April, although this may vary depending on prevailing conditions.
For clarity, the only water temperature used to trigger or lift the seawater cooling recirculation requirement is the one monitored by TC at the Port of Québec. This location serves as the sole reference point for implementing or removing the requirement. Water temperatures outside Montréal are generally higher than those recorded at the Port of Québec.
Please note that the temperature readings from OGSL for Québec City were unavailable from February 26 to March 26. OGSL has since been replaced by a newer application, Nautilo, which is now used by TC as the source for water temperature data.
Sincerely,
Farah Ahmad
Coordinator, Operations
