The Federation recently submitted a brief to the Ministère des Transports of Quebec in response to its request for stakeholder comments on its new strategy for the Saint-Lawrence.
Our brief focuses on the need to develop a robust port infrastructure, the renewal of the icebreaking fleet and supply chain management and visibility, including the implementation of maritime single window in Canada. We also raised the need to support sustainable shipping, including the introduction of port incentives for “green vessels” and investment in projects related to vessels’ noise measurements, and the need for harmonisation between the federal and provincial visions for marine transportation in the Saint-Lawrence.
